Thanks for the post ideas!  I feel like I am heading into the new year with a fresh outlook on farm life.  I will be trying to come up with at least one entry for each suggestion.

But first, I want to show you what came out of my garden yesterday. 

Dug right out from under 10 inches of snow, washed (no peeling necessary), chopped, put straight into beef stew and tucked in with dumplings.

  1. They are beauties. I have no luck with carrots but I still have Parsnips in the ground, which I will use today in my chicken soup.

    I do love pulling carrots from the garden in Jan.
    I will be doing that latter today. The carrots will be added to a turkey bone broth that has been simmering for the last three days.
    We will have a wonderful turkey pot pie for supper.
